Surrogacy is a very serious and demanding process and when choosing an agency think carefully if that agency can meet your interests and needs, if they have enough experience in working with foreign families, if they are trustworthy and reliable, remember:
1You will be working with the agency for about a year or even more. Try to speak by phone to the people who will be working for you and try to estimate their personal and professional qualities.
2Surrogacy process can't be cheap, even in Ukraine. Of course, surrogacy in Ukraine is not as expensive as in the USA or Canada but still it is a red flag when intended parents find programs with all included services, like unlimited or many attempts, free accommodation, meals etc and everything is at low fees. Low cost programs do not mean good service, you need to think twice what is wrong then. The process takes about a year, there are many factors, resources and people involved and therefore it is obvious that surrogacy cannot be cheap.
3Many Ukrainian surrogacy agencies are oriented for Ukrainian or Russian couples and this means they will try to benefit at every step, no matter what. Investigate the matter carefully and try to find those who have many references from foreign families and who have experience, like our agency - we work with foreign families since 1999. 6If the agency does not have a Service agreement and contract with you before you pay any money, pay attention to this fact.
7And at last, a good and important way for the US citizens to check a specific agency or a person with the help of the US Embassy in Kiev. Of course the Embassy will not give you any recommendations but at least it can answer if this person or agency had complaints before. Some agencies/clinics may be in a black list.
